Intuition does not look the same for everyone.

Some people see things.

Some people feel things.

Some people just know.

Others hear words, smell something that is not physically there, taste something unexpectedly, or receive information through touch.

These intuitive senses are often called the clairs.

“Clair” simply means clear.

So clairvoyance means clear seeing, clairaudience means clear hearing, and so on.

You may experience one strongly, several at once, or different clairs at different times.

1. Clairvoyance: Clear Seeing

Clairvoyance is intuitive information received through images or visual impressions.

You might see:

  • flashes of images

  • colours

  • symbols

  • scenes in your mind

  • faces

  • places

  • mental pictures that seem to arrive out of nowhere

This does not always mean physically seeing something in front of you.

For many people, clairvoyance feels more like a vivid image appearing in the mind.

2. Clairaudience: Clear Hearing

Clairaudience is intuitive information received through sound, words or phrases.

You may hear:

  • a word in your mind

  • a name

  • a sentence

  • music

  • a phrase that feels different from your usual thoughts

Sometimes it sounds like your own inner voice.

The difference can be that the information feels like it arrived, rather than something you deliberately thought through.

3. Clairsentience: Clear Feeling

Clairsentience is intuitive information received through feelings and physical sensations.

You may walk into a room and immediately sense tension.

You may feel someone else’s sadness before they say anything.

You may get goosebumps, heaviness, warmth, pressure or another physical sensation when something feels significant.

This is one of the most common intuitive experiences.

4. Claircognizance: Clear Knowing

Claircognizance is simply knowing something without knowing how you know it.

There may be no image.

No voice.

No physical sensation.

You just know.

You may suddenly know the answer to a question, understand someone’s intention, or sense how a situation will unfold.

Claircognizance can be easy to dismiss because it often feels so ordinary.

5. Clairalience: Clear Smelling

Clairalience is intuitive information received through smell.

You may suddenly smell:

  • perfume

  • flowers

  • smoke

  • food

  • a familiar home

  • a scent associated with a particular person

There may be no obvious physical source for the smell.

In mediumship, people sometimes associate certain scents with loved ones who have passed.

6. Clairgustance: Clear Tasting

Clairgustance is intuitive information received through taste.

You may suddenly taste a particular food, drink or flavour without actually eating it.

This can sometimes happen during intuitive or mediumistic experiences when a certain taste carries meaning or reminds you of someone.

7. Clairtangency: Clear Touch

Clairtangency is often called psychometry.

It involves receiving intuitive information through touch.

You may hold an object and suddenly receive:

  • emotions

  • images

  • memories

  • sensations

  • impressions about the object’s history or owner

Some people naturally pick up information from jewellery, photographs, clothing, homes or personal belongings.

8. Clairempathy: Clear Emotion

Clairempathy is a strong intuitive awareness of other people’s emotional states.

You may sense what someone is feeling even when they are hiding it.

This can feel similar to clairsentience, but clairempathy is more specifically connected to emotional information.

People who experience this strongly sometimes assume every emotion they feel belongs to them.

Learning to ask:

Is this mine?

can become an important part of intuitive development.

You May Have More Than One Clair

Most intuitive people do.

You might see an image, feel something in your body and then suddenly know what it means.

One clair can trigger another.

You may also notice that certain intuitive senses are stronger depending on the situation.

The goal is not to collect every clair like spiritual Pokémon.

It is to notice how information naturally comes through for you.

Ask yourself:

Do I usually see, hear, feel or simply know?

Do physical sensations show up before thoughts?

Do I receive information through dreams?

Do certain smells, tastes or objects trigger intuitive impressions?

Which intuitive experiences have repeated throughout my life?

Your strongest clair is often the one you already use without realizing it.

Intuition does not have to look dramatic to be real.

Sometimes it is a vision.

Sometimes it is a chill.

Sometimes it is a sentence.

Sometimes it is simply:

I know.

Keep Exploring Your Intuition

If this helped you understand your intuitive language a little better, save this page so you can come back to it later as you start noticing your own patterns.

The more you pay attention, the more you begin to recognize your own language.

Your intuition may have been speaking longer than you realize.

I hope this blog post helps you along your journey.

Peace,

Tabby xx
